password and PPP automatically.
Click here to download the script . Save on your local drive and
open in notepad to follow the simple Instructions.
Password : Good and Bad !
Definition -- Password: A code used
to access a secure account. It is like the combination to a safe -- people who know it can
get in, people who do not are locked out.
Definition -- Hacker : A person who is skilled
at breaking into people's accounts in order to view or alter the contents.
A good password and good password habits can help to keep your account safe.
Creating a good password
1. Keep it long -- Six to Eight characters is recommended. Generally do not exceed 8
characters.
2. Keep it complex -- You can use any combination of letters,
numbers, and capitalization.
3. Keep it simple -- The password needs be hard to break, but
simple enough to be easy to remember.
4. Keep it obtuse -- do not use any name which can be looked
up in any dictionary. Hackers have programs which can find words written in many different
languages, so do not use real words.
5. Keep it impersonal -- don't use your name or initials, the
name or initials of a loved one or a pet, important dates, etc.
Examples :
GOOD
- A good password scheme might be to take the first letter from
each word of a song you know, or a phrase. E.g.,qsqtamir = Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak of Amir
Khan .
- Choose two short words and concatenate them together with a _
character between them. For example: "abcl_pat", "book_98",
"kid_mom''
- Use a password with mixed-case alphabetic. Ex.mriNDia
,QsQtamir
- Use a password that is easy to remember, so you don't have to
write it down.
- Use a password that you can type quickly, without having to
look at the keyboard. This makes it harder for someone to steal your password by watching
over your shoulder.
BAD
- Don't use your login name in any form (as-is, reversed,
capitalized, doubled, etc.).
- Don't use your first or last name in any form.
- Don't use use your spouse's or child's name.
- Don't use other information easily obtained about you. This
includes license plate numbers, telephone numbers, social security numbers, the brand of
your automobile, the name of the street you live on, etc.
- Don't use a password of all digits, or all the same letter.
This significantly decreases the search time for a cracker.
- Don't use a word contained in (English or foreign language)
dictionaries, spelling lists, or other lists of words.
- Don't use a password shorter than six characters.
- Don't repeat used passwords.
Tips on
searching the Internet
Searching the web can be very time-consuming.
First, you should determine if the subject that you wish to search the internet for is
a common subject that could possibly have it's own web page, or a large amount of
information within a web page. Topics in this category could be a specific company or its
product, information on a specific country, area, city or town, a medical condition, etc.
If you think that your search topic would be a fairly common occurence on the net, you
should probably try a catalogued and indexed search engine like Yahoo, WebCrawler
instead of a more general, full-text, search engine like AltaVista, Excite, or HotBot.
If you think that your search terms are more obscure, or an indexed search did not turn
up any relavant links, you would do best to try a full-text search engine like AltaVista,
Excite, or HotBot.
AltaVista
Fast and acurate results from a wide-ranging and up-to-date full-text index make
Digital Equipment's WEB search engine a popular favorite. We higly recommend this
search engine for your more complex, hard-to-find subjects.
WebCrawler
A simple, easy to use, interface makes this indexed searchable database a good
choice for beginners, but it is limited in what the sites it can offer.
Yahoo
Yahoo searches its own descriptions of sites (with their URLs and titles). From
the site itself, you can browse through subject categories, maps of any area, to your
doorstop, not to mention a fine yellow pages directory.
Excite! NetSearch
This full-text search engine covers a large portion of the web in an indexed
format that is easy to use. Plus Excite is more than just a search engine with maps,
yellow pages, and its own 411 directory.
Lycos
Lycos is always rated highly for the number and relevancy of the hits it returns.
Magellan
This Internet directory features thousands of rated sites, and even more unrated
sites, in an easy to use interface.
Infoseek Guide
This is basically a comprehensive and accurate Web list of cataloged and reviewed
sites.
HotBot
One of the newest web search engines on the internet, this tool is also very
powerful with results ranked by assumed relevance to your subject.
MetaCrawler
This Metasearch is one search engine that wades through nine others (Lycos,
WebCrawler, Excite, Alta Vista, Yahoo, HotBot, and Galaxy). It returns a single configured
screen of results, but it tends to be very slow in gathering its information.
