Tropico
developed by PopTop
Software
Tropico will
cast the player as ruler of a Caribbean Island responsible for developing an
economy and keeping the citizens happy as well as interacting with other
rulers. Based on the info I've seen it appears that gameplay will contain
elements of SimCity and Majesty.

(3.5/4) "It is eminently replayable.
There are so many options -- the island's physical characteristics, victory
conditions, El Presidente's personality quirks -- that it never plays the same
way twice. It also has the feature that makes games like Civilization and Age
Of Empires great -- it's easy to play and difficult to master. With the option
to adjust difficulty levels from ridiculously easy to virtually impossible,
you can test multiple tactics, swap strategies online, and hone your
dictatorial acumen"

Domain "Tropico
is an amusing, individual, absorbing and fun game. Budding Fidels will snap it
up, and those bored with traditional management games of this type will find
it deliciously different. Just don't expect to still be playing it when the
sequel is released"
GameSpot
(8.6/10) "After an experiment as
bold as Lionhead Studios' recent Black & White, Tropico is exactly what
strategy gaming needs: a reminder that a game doesn't necessarily have to be
weird, inscrutable, or unconventional to be great--it can get by on charm,
broad appeal, and sophistication. Most everyone will find that Tropico is a
real pleasure to play because of these qualities"
