Organization
History

In response to the great number of hardship cases, BLESS in Egypt organized the Agape Program to implement different services to assist the needy (the Brethren of the Lord). In 1989, two organizations, BLESS CA (which later became BLESS International) and BLESS NJ were formed to collect contributions for the the Brethren of the Lord and send them to the Agape Program.

In an effort to expand the aid to needy Copts in Egypt from all across the United States, BLESS USA began its service at the Archdiocese of North America in September of 1997. BLESS USA is the continuation and advancement of the former organizations BLESS CA (BLESS International) and BLESS NJ.

BLESS in Egypt has three distinct departments: the Charity Department, the Development Department and the Ecumenical Department.

The Charity Department contains the Agape Program, which assists poor and needy Copts throughout Egypt. BLESS USA sends all its contributions to the Charity Department only

The Development Department turns very poor villages into stable, productive and self-sufficient communities through a system called Comprehensive Integrated Development (CID).

The Ecumenical Department deals with facilitating ecumenical relations between the Coptic Orthodox Church and other churches.
