SCMHRD is one of the 22 ‘Symbiosis’ academic institutions in Pune, traditionally known as the educational and cultural capital of India. It was started in 1993, and relocated in 1997 in its present management complex building. The November 3, 1996 issue of ‘The Week’, one of India’s leading weeklies, in an SCMHRD-exclusive article wrote "In just three years it has become one of the most talked about management institutions in the country and a hot recruitment centre for the corporate world."

SCMHRD is the management education centre which integrates our ancient wisdom and modern management techniques through a series of unique and carefully evolved experiential learning processes to effect an attitudinal shift in students, along with MBA level intellectual inputs.

Through Yoga, Pranayama, SSY & Vipassana meditation and a variety of tailor-made learning and unlearning processes, SCMHRD strives to direct the students to realise and discover their innate potential equanimous, happy & creative being and the holistic self-motivating ‘self’.

SCMHRD offers an autonomous two-year fulltime Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) in the functional areas of Marketing, Finance, Materials, H.R.M., Projects and Systems. Also offered is a one year full-time Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Development (PGDHRD) in association with Academy of HRD - National HRD Network exclusively for postgraduates in behavioural sciences.

The Symbiosis family

Established in 1971, primarily to promote world understanding between India and foreign students through education, the Symbiosis International and Educational Centre runs twenty two academic institutions in various disciplines. Besides management schools, these include schools in the faculties of law, arts, languages, culture, commerce, computers, journalism and communication. The student strength of Symbiosis is over 16000 and students from over 32 different countries and from all states in India are presently pursuing education in different Symbiosis institutions.

Symbiosis Institute of Business Management (SIBM)

Established in 1978, and currently headed by Dr Pramod Kumar, SIBM is the oldest management institute of the Symbiosis Society. SlBM offers two, two-year full time courses : The Masters in Business Administration (MBA) and the Masters in Personnel Management (MPM), recognised by the University of Pune and the Govt. of Maharashtra.

Symbiosis Institute of Foreign Trade (SIFT)

Established in 1992 and headed by Dr.Bs.Ks. Chopra, SIFT conducts an autonomous two years full time Masters programme in International Business (MPIB) and an evening Diploma Programme (DIB) for working executives.

Symbiosis Institute of Management Studies (SIMS)

Established in 1992 and headed by Mr Ranjit Mudholkar, SIMS was started on the request of Directorate - Resettlement, Ministry of Defence, Govt.of India. It is meant exclusively for serving / retired defence personnel and their dependents. For the children of defence personnel the institute offers a two-year full time Post Graduate Diploma in Management.

Established in 1996 and headed by Mrs. T. M. Kanvinde, SITM offers an autonomous two-year full - time Post Graduate Diploma in Telecom Management to cater to the emerging telecom sector.
