Students Selection Process
In keeping with SCMHRD’s endeavor to spot students with a sharp intellect, uncompromising integrity and conviction, and to nurture them as action oriented role models, the PGDM class of 1999 had to go through a rigorous multistage selection process.

Stage 1 - All India Written Test was conducted simultaneously in 13 centers across the country. A total of 7994 of the 9600 applicants appeared for the test.

Stage 2 - 420 students were shortlisted on the basis of their performance in the written test and were ranked in order of merit.

Stage 3 - A Group discussion involving a case analysis, an issue and topic of national importance was used to draw up a further shortlist. The shortlisted students were then tested on their general awareness using a group quiz.

Stage 4 - The final stage of selection involved Personal Interaction with an expert panel including an impromptu presentation on a topic chosen out of the three given topics.

The final merit list

The cumulative scores of stages 1 to 4 were used to draw up the merit list. The final selection ratio of the class of 1999 is 1:79.

The uniqueness of this process

SCMHRD takes pride in its totally transparent admission process. Absence of any discrimination whatsoever on the basis of religion, domicile etc. ensures merit at a national level. The scores after each stage are communicated to the applicants immediately as we believe they have the right to know where they stand.

Senior students are in charge of management, co-ordination and hospitality during the entire admission process (except testing process), starting with the prospectus design to the management of All India test centers and announcement of merit list.

We recognise that inhibited youngsters may not necessarily mean bad management material. During the group process testing, silent candidates are specifically encouraged to express themselves. Topics are changed to ensure equity in personal expression if the original subject(s) deters debate. We even address the grievances of those not selected.

We do not select over agressive and self centred candidates who are not versed in the art of listening. We focus on people with integrity, depth and originality. We seek people with a determination to succeed by steady, hard and right work, listening and learning every moment from every person and event. We believe pretension through Back to Topgimmicks and impression making cannot last long.
