Dr. Jeff Gorski returned from a year of research leave at Harvard University (July 1, 1998).
Dr. Brian Livingston has been promoted to the rank of Associate Professor in the Division of Cell Biology and Biophysics (July 1, 1998).
Dr. Joseph Mattingly has been appointed Assistant Professor in the Division of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry (effective September 1, 1998).
Dr. Kirill Popov has been appointed Assistant Professor in the Division of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry (effective October 1, 1998).
Dr. Natalia Kedishvili has been appointed Research Assistant Professor in the Division of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry (effective October 1, 1998).
Dr. Marino Martinez-Carrion gave the Plenary Opening lecture at XXI Meeting of the Spanish Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in Seville, Spain, in September, 1998. He also has been honored with a UKC Trustees' Faculty Fellows Award for 1998-99.

Saper Vedere Scholars. A new tutorial/research undergraduate scholars merit program has been initiated academic year 1998/99.
