International , which in turn is the international film distribution arm of Sony
Pictures Entertainment. Columbia Tristar's Indian operations started in 1934 and it has
since then consistently been bringing in the biggest Hollywood blockbusters to India. In
1999 , Columbia became the first Hollywood major to get FIPB approval to distribute and
produce Indian films. SPE Films India ( a subsidiary of Columbia Tristar India ) opened up
a world of opportunities for Indian film makers when it kickstarted its Indian operations
by distributing its first venture " Pyaar Mein Kabhi Kabhi " .
