 Nagpur Telecom At A Glance 
  Telecommunication is one of the important pillar of the infrastructure required for National development.
   Nagpur Telecom has played its role very well in Nagpur District.
   Nagpur Telecom provides the communication services in the entire revenue district of Nagpur, covering 39.59 
   lacks of population spread over 45000 Sq.Kms., with a telephone density of 38.75 per thousand persons.
   Nagpur Municipal Corporation Area is having 23.15 lacks of population has telephone density of 65.88 per 
   thousand persons.
   Nagpur Telecom has witnessed a tremendous growth in the last four years. The Comparative figures for year
   1996 and 2000 indicates that the capacity and connections are more than doubled.

    SWITCHING

    Total 118 Exchanges of small , medium and large capacities with 1,90,896 lines of equipped capacity
    State of art Digital Trunk Exchange(Level-1) of 18,000 lines to give STD connectivity
    325 Kms of Cable Duct Routes for protection of vital primary cable
    31,644 lines added in the network during the year 1999-2000
    17,148 new telephone connection provided during the year 1999-2000

    11 new Exchanges opened during 1999-2000

   Transmission
    Stable Transmission media in all Tehsil Head Quarters and other important places
    STD Facility available in 87 Rural Exchanges out of 97 Rural Exchanges
    All junction lines are on highly stable transmission media like PCM , Microwave and OFC
    SDH ring formed between " Sitabuldi - VRCE - Wadi - Hingna - Sitabuldi " Exchange by STM-1Stream  

  Village Public Telephone

    Out of total 1536 village , 1349 villages have already been provided with telephone facilities
    It is also proposed to give STD facility to several VPT's

  Value Added Services

     Nagpur Telecom provided a host of world class value added telecom services

   Internet

    Internet Node is functioning with 256 Dial-up lines . Number of internet subscriber are 6055
    National Internet Backbone(NIB) of B-Node is ready for commissioning for giving faster connectivity to DOT customers
    Nagpur Telecom has its own website "www.nagpur.dotindia.com
    Internet Dhabas are to be opened in all 14 blocks H/Quarters ,  out of which , Two Block H/Quarters are already converted

   ISDN

    ISDN services are becoming more popular and as on date 102 subscriber have taken ISDN facility and 79 are availing for fast internet access

   I-NET

    ACX-40 Concentrator is functioning with the facility of 100 X-28 Dial-Up/X-25 and X-28 leased lines connectivity. As on date , 141 connection have taken I-Net facility

   INTELLIGENT NETWORK 

    IN service introduced on 9-10-99 & VCC(India Telecom) Cards in the denomination of Rs.100/200/500/- are available at central Telegraph office , DTOs at Shankar Nagar and Nagpur city(DTO) and all Customer Service Centres. IN services are extended to rural areas Viz., Kuhi, Parseoni , Butibori,Hingna , Kamptee , Saoner, Ramtek , Mouda , Umrer and Kalmeshwar   

  COMPUTERIZATION

    Fault booking (198) through IVRS are available in Sitabuldi-1 & II Exchanges. 
    Changed Number  (195) through IVRS is working 
    Bill Reminder through IVRS is to be introduce soon
    Plan to implement DOTSOFT for combined applications for TRA billing , Directory Enquiry and Commercial functions during the year 2000-2001

  REVENUE

                   The annual revenue realized by Nagpur Telecom has increased from Rs.95 Crores(1996-1997) to 
                 148 Crores(1999-2000) representing 53% growth of revenue

  CUSTOMER ORIENTATION

    11 Customer Service Centres(Urban-7 & Rural-4)
    3 Telephone Adalats held during 2000-2001for Speedy disposal of public grievances
    One Open House Session held for constant interaction with telephone users
    New Telephone Directory(1999 issue) is published on 18-01-2000
    Workshop on "Customer Care in Competitive Environment" is going to be conducted
    Bill Collection facility through 7 Branches of Syndicate Bank

   MOBILE & PAGING

        Mobile Services are functional of two multinational viz., BPL-US WEST and BIRLA AT&T
        Paging Services are provided by M/s Easy Call Communications , M/s Neitherland India Communication
        Enterprises(NICE Paging) and Beltron Paging Services
