Technology Institute

The Technology Institute sessions are designed to provide an in-depth opportunity to learn a specific program or a series of programs while providing ongoing support with technology integration. Each session will be applicable to users of both Macintosh & Windows platforms.

Each of the Technology Institute sessions meets for 12.5 hours during a combination of evening & weekend hours. Participants can choose to take as many sessions as they want. Each session is free of charge & open to all district employees; other community members can participate on a space available basis. University credit is available for class(es) for a total cost of $35. Each session qualifies for 1 UAS 593 credit.

Institute Offerings & Course Descriptions

Basic Webpage Design - Learn about what makes a "good" webpage & then create a simple webpage of your own using Netscape's Composer
Advanced Webpage Design - Add Java & other features that add interest to your webpage using Adobe GoLive
Microsoft Word 97/98 - Practice adding tables, clip art/pictures, Word Art, & more to your Word documents (Note: This class will use Windows computers, but Word is basically the same on both Mac & Windows platforms)
Multimedia - Learn or practice using the multi-media program of your choice (PowerPoint 97/98, HyperStudio, or ClarisWorks) and walk away from class with a project plan & a demonstration of what you would like students to create
Searching on the Internet & Internet Classroom Resources - Learn how to conduct an effective search of the vast resources available on the internet & learn how to evaluate those sites for educational use, & then see what resources are on the web that you could use with students
Digital Camera & Scanning - Practice, practice, practice with digital cameras & scanners using Adobe PhotoDeluxe
