Grant Application Guidelines

Committed to providing the funds for uninterrupted research in this field, ANRF’s Board of Directors knows the results will mean improved treatment for these crippling diseases. We owe it to the over 40 million Americans who suffer from some form of arthritis to continue the search for a cure.

 

Grant Policy

  • Grant proposals are reviewed annually by the Board of Directors in consultation with outside academic advisors.
  • Both clinical and basic studies will be given equal consideration.
  • The focus of proposals should be on high incidence diseases.
  • Priority will be given to newer investigators possessing either a M.D. and/or Ph.D. degree who are associated with qualified institutions.
  • Grants are awarded for one year. Projects requiring multi-year funding must re-apply each year.
  • Grants awarded will be in the range of $20,000 to $50,000.
  • Partial funding may be awarded if grantee has documentation that the remainder of the funding for proposed research has been acquired.
  • The Foundation will fund salaries, supplies and equipment directly related to the proposed studies. Overhead or indirect costs will not be funded.

 

How to Apply

1. The body of the proposal should contain:

  • Abstract - one-page summary of your project
  • Specific Aims - Specific goals of this research
  • Introduction - Brief history of your association with research facility, process leading up to development of specific project, etc.
  • Relevant Methods
  • Duration of Project - timeline for project
  • Budget
  • Present Funding Sources and/or those currently being sought

2. Include background information on researchers involved in proposed study: resume, list of published material and any additional information deemed appropriate.

3. Proposals should not exceed ten pages.
