| After installing my CT-6BTM, the system does not startup and a siren-like noise sounds
from the speaker. What's wrong ? This
sound indicates a failure encountered during the first stages of the BIOS startup
procedure. The causes of this problem could be ::
1. Memory related:
- the memory modules don't conduct well enough because
of damage or dirt buildup
- the memory modules are defective
- the memory sockets are damaged
In order to check if your problem is related to the
memory, check the modules and sockets carefully and clean the edges of the memory modules.
Try other modules if possible and/or try using them in another socket.
2. Power supply related:
- the powersupply is defective and does not deliver
enough power
- the powersupply has compatibility problems with your
board;
We have found that sometimes the CT-6BTM can be picky
when it comes to powersupplies. After investigating this issue we have found that the
cause of this problem lies in the specification margins of certain powersupplies. If the
margin becomes too large, the above mentioned problem may occur. In all cases changing the
powersupply to another brand would solve the problem.
The problem is caused when the power supply is unable
to provide a stable voltage fast enough causing the BIOS POST test to fail. Because the
loading on the power supply will also influence this power supply startup time period, the
problem will occur more/faster when the system has more components/devices installed and
when higher busspeeds are used.
Higher quality powersupplies will have stricter
margins and will less likely cause problems. We have tested Delta, Enlight, Seventeam,
etc. powersupplies without problems.
If above suggestions do not solve your problem, then
contact your dealer and send us an e-mail with the following information: CPU model no.
(all details on the CPU package !), mainboard serial no., mainboard PCB version (see BIOS
ROM sticker), short description of the problem (problem at first startup or after a while
of using, or after adding some component(s), or after a BIOS update) |
