I have to know programming? |

are two ways to add text and images. Option
1 requires a knowledge of html programming
and software to download and upload your Web
site files to our computer. Details of this
option is fully outlined in our online Learning
Center. Option 2 requires no programming knowledge.
This option allows you to make text changes
and upload images directly through your browser.
This method although easier and faster is
only limited in that the locations where text
and images can be placed is pre-formatted

do people find my site? |
The
most common method people use to find a site
is through search engines and directories
like Yahoo!, Altavista, Excite, and Hotbot
to name only a few. There are a variety of
ways to announce your Web site to the world
and increase your traffic too numerous to

domain name, also called a web address, is
a unique Internet address that can be used
for web hosting, e-mail, etc. It provides
the actual address that your Web site is located
at and brings up your site on the internet
when you or anyone types in the domain name
on their browser. It also allows you to send
and receive information at your customized
e-mail address. It is your company’s identity
on the World Wide Web (WWW). If your organization
is Your Company, Inc., you could register
the domain name of yourcompany.com and your
e-mail address could be you@yourcompany.com.

I register a domain name? |

you currently do not own a domain name, also
known as a web address, you must select one
and submit it to us for registration. A domain
name is your unique Web site address, without
it people will not know how to find your Web
site or your e-mail address.

later? |
Yes,
our plans are designed to grow with you. To
upgrade login into the members only site and
use our upgrade request form. Within 24 hours
your account will be upgraded to the level

will receive you first invoice by e-mail approximately
30 days after your Web Account is fully activated
and your Web site on-line. Your account is
activated when your Web site is on-line meaning
that your site is accessible by you via FTP
or through your browser and visitor accessible
via your domain name.

60 days before it can be transferred.

information is available on-line 30 days after
account activation. Your personal information
is protected within our secure servers and
requires a password which only you will have
to gain access to your account information.

you can use your account for commercial purposes.

you offer dial-up internet access? |

and you will need local Internet access in

I check for domain name availability? |
Sure!
You may check for domain name availability
via our Free Domain Name Registration link
on our Homepage or during the final step in
purchasing your Web site and establishing
your Web Account.

| Does
TheWebsiteDistrict.com handle domain
registration? |
|
| Yes.
TheWebsiteDistrict.com will register new domain
names with ICANN for you. However, due to
changes in ICANN registration policy, domain
name registration must be prepaid. ($50.00
for two years)
We
do not charge for registration and we register
it in YOUR name, if you establish a TheWebsiteDistrict.com
or Sitebuilder's account with us. There
is a $20.00 registration charge for all
others.
If
you have an existing domain we will fill
out and send you a modify domain name template
to forward to hostmaster@internic.net.
When ICANN announces the completion of
the transfer, there is a 72 hour propagation
period where visitors could go to either
site. At the end of the 72 hours you should
contact the previous host to have them
delete the old domain from their records
and update their DNS record. If you use
this same provider for your Internet access
you will not be able to access your domain
site through our affiliate server base
until they update their DNS. During the
propagation period persons accessing your
site will be going to both sites until
all are eventually accessing the new site
hosted by TheWebsiteDistrict.com. The process
should be seamless.

has been registered (or transferred, if

before it is active. All internet providers

No.
Our experience has shown that 300 to 500 MB/month
is more than enough data transfer for 90 (+)%
of all websites and we use it as a bench mark.
Depending on the quantity and size of your
files, you can receive many thousands of hits

do I transfer files and/or change
information on my web site? |
Files
may be transferred to the web server via File
Transport Protocol (FTP) or by accessing your
password protected Web Account Access Panel.
The Access panel allows you to enter information,
upload images and logos, and perform other
administrative functions right through your
browser. There's no software to buy and making
changes is easy. A complete tutorial is available
at The Learning Center.
FTP
allows you to download your Website to
your computer, make changes, and upload
your changes back to your Webspace. You
will need FTP software which you can download
a program for either a PC or Mac from our
site (see Downloads on our Homepage) .
Internet providers such as AOL, Compuserve,
and Prodigy may have a built-in FTP interface.
An FTP tutorial is available for first
time users at the Learning Center. We
offer unlimited FTP access.

I have unlimited access to update
my pages ? |
You
have unlimited access via FTP 24-hours a day.
As such, you can create and maintain your
web pages on your own computer and upload
files to your web site at your convenience.

multiple domains point to the same
HTML files ? |
In
general, if you have more than one domain
account at TheWebsiteDistrict.com we can point
each domain address to the same HTML files.
There is a $20.00 setup fee to mirror
sites and a $2.00/month fee per each mirrorred
domain.

I resell space within my own account
? |
Yes.
You can resell space within your account.
However, you will be responsible for its content
and data transfer. A server #1 will only allow
you to resell subdirectories. If you are going
to resell domain accounts you will need at
least a server #2 which is a much more powerful
solution that allows you to partition cgi
and ftp directories for your customers as
well as partiton virtual hosting directories.
You can also resell all server account types
TheWebsiteDistrict.com offers at whatever
price you choose. We will bill you our fees
and you can charge your customer what you
wish.

long does it take to set up a new

Orders
for servers will be configured within 48 hours,
and most times will be done the same day.
Once an account is set up an activation notice
will be sent you via e-mail including a user
id, password and FTP hostname. You can begin
uploading files to your new web site immediately.
Domain account users will be given a temporary
URL to access their site via the web prior
to the completion of either a domain registration
or transfer.
