Statement on the Situation

In the Occupied Palestinian Territories

The Organization of African Unity (OAU) Council of ministers, meeting in its 73rd ordinary session reviewed the situation in the Palestinian occupied territories and condemned the practices of repression being pretreated by the occupation forces against the defenseless people of Palestine and the policy of total destruction of the Palestinian economy and its institutions as well as the policy of torture, destruction of houses and agricultural farms, council condemned the repressive policies pretreated by Israel against the people of Palestine and their institutions, it called for an immediate half to all these practices and the resumption on the negotiations from where they stopped in accordance with the principles of international legality and the principle of land for peace, and on the basis of UN general assembly resolution 194, and UN security council resolutions 242 and 338 and other relevant resolutions adopted by the international body.

The Council emphasized the need for the United Nations to take all necessary measures to protect the people of Palestine and break the Israeli siege.   The Council emphasized the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and the establishment of their independent state, with Jerusalem as its capital.

The Council hailed the struggle of the Palestinian people, and their "Intifada" under the leader skip of the Palestine liberation organization their sole and legitimate representative, they emphasized the need to provide the necessary support to the Palestinian people in their "Intifada" for independence and sovereignty so as to enable them to gain their freedom and independence.
