Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) ISDN is a nationwide standard, digital dial-up telephone line that enables you to have voice, video & data communications all at the same time, on the same telephone call, over the same telephone line. Using the same copper phone lines that modems use, ISDN delivers a five-fold speed improvement (up to 128 Kbps) and provides essentially perfect transmission reliability. If you use remote PCs to access corporate systems and information services --- from an office at home, a branch office, or on the road --- chances are you're getting squeezed in the analog communications bottleneck. Longer and longer file transfer times. Slower response times for interactive applications. Growing bills for connect-time charges. But this is a bottleneck you can easily break.
ISDN provides higher speed, more bandwidth, and is less expensive than using an analog mode over POTS, or plain old telephone service. The NT-1 Plus enables a user to connect one ISDN B channel to the terminal adapter and converts the other B channel into a standard analog interface for connection to all existing analog telephones and fax machines. The user gets two for the price of one! Read more about ISDN in an article reprinted from Mobile Computing and Communications magazine. |
