Since the middle of the 17th century when a Dutch pioneer built the first sawmill in Saugerties, commerce has played an integral part in the growth of the community.

The Village of Saugerties - listed in the National Historic Register - is the center of a vibrant community life. Within the borders of the Town of Saugerties lie a mix of rural, suburban, and village settings where the only skyscrapers are formed by the heights of the surrounding Catskill Mountains.

Available industrial/business sites and a skilled and educated work force recommend Saugerties as the site for your business expansion. Local industry benefits from an excellent transportation profile - our own NYS Thruway entrance and proximity to Stewart/Albany International Airports. ISDN is available within a three-mile radius of the Village of Saugerties, making Saugerties the location for your software or other high-tech business. A talented community of artists and musicians in the Saugerties-Woodstock area, the proximity to NYC, the availability of high-speed telecommunications, and the dramatic scenery combine in a synergistic relationship that is perfect for New Media companies.

Quality of life is Saugerties' greatest asset. Good schools, affordable housing, and a healthy environment are beneficial to relocating employees. Attractive landscapes rich in recreational opportunities and a commute-free lifesyle await them.

We welcome you to envision your business operating in our community.
