(01). I have paid an initial deposit of Rs.3000/- with my application for a new telephone. Will the Telecom Department pay any interest on this amount? If so how?

(Ans).The Department of Telecom has to pay a waiting charge on the initial deposit,for the complete number of months commencing from the date of deposit to the date of actual installation of the telephone.The Waiting charge will be at the rate payable by the State Bank of India on fixed deposits for a period of one year and will be calculated at the rate in force on the date of deposit

(02). I have deposited 3000/- at the time of registration for a new telephone.My turn has come and the telephone has just been installed. What should I look for in the first bill to be received?

(Ans).The first bill should comprise of --
1. Advance rental for one year as security deposit;
2. One bi-monthly rental ; and
3. Installation fee(with rebate for internal wiring or instrument or for both,if provided by you);
LESS  Initial deposit of Rs.3000/- with accrued waiting charge there on from the date of deposit up to the date preceding the date of installation of the telephone.
If the charges are not correct as per the Tariff prevailing on the date or if the waiting charges has not been allowed,you may contact the account officer in person and have the bill revised.

(03). I have provided complete concealed internal telephone wiring in my house.The department has issued a bill of full installation fee of Rs.800/- for the new connection.How should i get the rebate for the amount I have spent?

(Ans). The department has to allow you to rebate of Rs.250/- in the installation fee when you have provided the internal wiring yourself.If they have charged full installation fee of Rs. 800/- in the first bill after installation of the telephone,you may get a letter from the SDE/SDO(external)of your exchange and approach the Accounts officer(Telephone Revenue) concerned and get a revised bill.
