FBLA Members go to fargo For state conference
By Kayla Austfjord
It was a busy week for North Dakota State FBLA members. Sunday afternoon, April 2nd, fifty-seven members of the Cavalier crew boarded a big, yellow bus and headed to Fargo. Their first stop was the hotel to unpack, then off to the conference to compete for the next three days. It is an experience of fun, learning, & good sportsmanship. When in Fargo, members take their tests during the day in hopes of placing in the top numbers. Those who place first will then continue on to nationals which are in California this summer. At night there are dances and shows that can be attended by all students at the conference. This year there was a hypnotist that performed for the crowd. But there are always some that just stay and relax in the hotel, with swimming, hanging out with new and/or old friends, or just sleeping. During the day a person may attend seminars or speakers to fill their time slots. The last day there, members attend the awards  and installation of the officers' ceremonies. Then it is back to Cavalier. Congratulations to this years winners:

Three Go to State Speech in Mandan

Speech so far this year has been pretty exciting. The team from Cavalier has already been to two meets, one on February 5 in Langdon, March 3 at Mayville State University, and April 7 at Mayport-CG for regionals. Badar Tareen is going to the State speech meet in Mandan on April 29. He will be competing in a Speech to Persuade and a Dramatic Interpretation, which he took 1st and 2nd place respectfully. Also, Adam & Andy Scheblien will be competing in the state tournament in Humorous Duo taken 2nd in their competition. FBLA, Band, and Chorus travel around the state. by Ryan Latozke
This week is a big week for the Cavalier High School. First of all, the big FBLA state convention was in Fargo. They are down there for two whole school days starting on Monday. They left on Sunday and didn't come back until Tuesday. That means that about half the school was gone for a while. The parking lot is usually packed to the brim by the time I get to school, but for these two days, I didn't have any trouble getting a spot close up. Second, the band and chorus went to Neche on Wednesday for their annual regional music contest. All the school from around the region go there for the day and show their stuff against the best in the region. Cavalier has always done good there over the years and probably always will.
