Multi-age refers to the practice of deliberately putting into one classroom,
children from a wide age and developmental range.
A common arrangement is two or three traditional grades
such as K-2 or 3-5.

Teachers strive to do whatever it takes to ensure that struggling and advanced learners,
students with different background experiences all grow as much as they possibly can
each day, each week and each year.

Learning activities are designed to be developmentally appropriate, rather than
decided simply by the students' ages and therefore assumed developmental level.
