Girls from one of the poorest rural counties in the United States surprised their
families, teachers,
and even themselves when they set out on a three-year exploration of the science and
mathematics of everyday life.
UnCommon Knowledge: "The Voices of Girls Documentary" demonstrates the
powerful impact the project had on everyone involved. |
The "Voices of Girls"
project was featured in the April 2000 issue of the Curriculum

The Voices of Girls
Project
"Voices of Girls" was a three-year project funded by the National
Science Foundation that helped middle-school-age girls do well and feel confident in science,
math, and technology. The girls lived in urban and rural, low-income areas. The project resulted
in several research papers and the UnCommon Knowledge
video and curriculum materials.
