IntraLATA Long Distance Choices
Northeast and Modern recently mailed notices to all telephone customers advising them that effective July 22, 1999 they will be able to choose their intraLATA long distance carrier. These new rules that were ordered by the Federal Communications Commission and the Missouri Public Service Commission have understandably generated many questions. Several customers have asked our advice on which carrier to choose. We are not allowed to recommend one carrier over another. Plus, carriers offer many different plans that will affect each customer differently depending on their calling habits.
The Missouri Office of Public Counsel has posted a web page showing long distance rate comparisons for several Missouri Long Distance Companies. Also we have had some additions to the list of long distance carriers that have offered to provide intraLATA long distance service to our customers.
