Archives: July 99 - June 99 - May 99 - April 99 Thursday, April 29, 1999      Rainbow Six ICQ Sounds - I recently downloaded the Rainbow Six ICQ sound scheme. It is pretty good and I recommend it to any R6 fan. You can either try and navigate the ICQ page or download it here. Justplace the file in your ICQ plugging folder and double click the file after you download and then open ICQ and go to preferences and configure the sounds, you will find an option with the Rainbow Six sounds listed. - Dropzone Tuesday, April 27, 1999      What is Dropzone Doing? - Well I have sunk as far as a person can into the internet culture...I have added a web cam to my office. Actually there are three of them, but I am only adding a link to one right now, more will follow. I used to host web cams for events like the hurricane that came through town recently, the cam was protected in a glass enclosure and had a good view of the wind and cars tumbling down the street...ok, so I added the cars by throwing hotwheels in front of the camera, but it looked real...I am on a budget! lol. I know some offered a while ago but I have since had to rebuild my computer and lost all my emails and ICQ messages. If you are interested please contact me. If you go to the "Coming Soon" links found on the left of the page you will see an abundance of games coming out that should interest any strategy gamer. Included are screen shots of each game and other information that I found pertinent. If you know of a title I missed please let me know via email. - Dropzone Operation Urban Assault for Half-Life - Operation Urban Assault is a complete conversion for Half-Life. The weapons, textures, models, and anything else you can think of is replaced...it is in reality like playing a new game. OpUA places you as a member of a secret police strike force, similar to S.W.A.T. in many ways. While the conversion is still in the works it looks very promising. If you would like to download it just click here. - Dropzone Monday, April 19, 1999      Lloyd's Mission Pack Released - The talented Lloyd Bailey has released his mod for Rainbow Six. It contains five completely new missions that have many surprises in them. This mod contains new skins and weapons, not to mention objects such as migs. The PCGamer map is required for this mod. You can download Lloyd's Mission Pack here. - Dropzone Pie's Tactics Reopened - Pie4Foo is pleased to announce the grand opening of the new and improved Pie's Tactics. As part of the overhaul the site has doubled its size and content from that of the previous version. As always, Pie's Tactics is your source for Rainbow Six single player and multiplayer tactics and strategies. - Dropzone Sunday, April 18, 1999      Hidden and Dangerous - Talonsoft is working on a new title called "Hidden and Dangerous", I do not care for the title much but the game looks awesome. It is set in WWII and looks to up the ante in the first person perspective world of military type gaming. The environments will include factories, dams, swamps, underground caverns, fields, and rivers. The game will also support force feedback, unfortunately I use a mouse to play these type games thus my joystick is rendered useless. The game takes place in Norway, Germany, Italy,the Danube, and more. You also have the option of using vehicles you find. If you would like to see some screen shots of the game from Talonsoft then click here. - Dropzone Navy Seals Conversion - Spider has released the press pack for his Rainbow Six Navy Seals Conversion Pack. This looks very interesting and promises to breath some new life into the game. You can download the press release pack here. - Dropzone Saturday, April 17, 1999      R6 Roster Pack - If you are getting tired of playing as a blue or gold team member in Rainbow Six try the R6 Roster Pack, it allows you to play as James Bond, the Terminator, or Ripley of Aliens. The mod was created by Felix Klastrup, this is quite an interesting mod and is worth getting. You can get it here. - Dropzone Friday, April 16, 1999      Team Fortress Classic for Half-Life - It seems I overlooked this add-on for Half-Life many times, and I apologize for that. Team Fortress Classic is an add-on for Half-Life which in essence mimics the TF of Quake fame, only much better. Do not get this confused with Team Fortress 2 however, Valve only released this add-on to satisfy the masses until the real team Fortress 2 comes out. You can still play all the character classes (Spy, Medic, Engineer, Sniper, Scout, Heavy Weapons Man, Demolition Man, Soldier, and the Pyro) and they have all their respective skills. I believe this add-on was overlooked since everyone is waiting for the real deal to come out, but it is worth getting, so get it by clicking here. - Dropzone Wednesday, April 14, 1999      Ryko Sounds 5 - The new Ryko Sounds 5 is out and if it is half as good as his previous sound mods then this should be worth getting. The Ryko sound mods are a favorite of the R6 community so if you have not tried them yet, do so. Take the time to visit the site by clicking here. - Dropzone Gun Maker 7 Out - This mod by Seven allows you to modify weapons in single player mode while not affecting your multiplayer settings. To get this mod click here. - Dropzone New Design, New Directions - The new TAC site has been up for a few days now and it stills needs a lot of work but I am dedicating some of my free time to bring it up to full speed. Tactical Advantage will also be bringing on some new staff to help keep the page up to date, I am currently trying to maintain more sites than I have fingers and toes to count them on. Until next time. - Dropzone Monday, April 12, 1999      Mechwarrior 3 Demo now Available - The third installment of Mechwarrior looks to be the best yet. if you have not done so then run out and get a force feedback joystick, I personally use the Logitech version since I tested all the available sticks on the market and found it to be the best. The demo is now available and can be downloaded here, it is a Gigex file and when executed will download the demo which is 37megs. Be sure to visit the Mechwarrior 3 web site. - Dropzone R6 Weapon Selector and Modifier - A new Rainbow Six tool is out that allows you to edit your weapons. You can see their statistics, descriptions, hear sample sounds, and even edit the weapon. The weapon selector and modifier is by Haqerz_SS, and can be downloaded here. - Dropzone BattleCom Version 1.2 Beta 4 - The new release of the previously named "Battlefield Communicator" is available and has been renamed BattleCom. The program is made by ShadowFactor Software Inc. and allows real time voice communications over the internet or a LAN. BattleCom works with many games that are now available and is also forward compatible with most new releases. You can download the client and server software here. - Dropzone Rogue Spear Press Release - The sequel to Rainbow Six was officially announces by Redstorm Entertainment. The name of the sequel is "Rogue Spear". you can view the press release here, or visit the official Rogue Spear web site here. - Dropzone Rainbow Six Cheat - Snicker of the Rainbow Six Retreat posted a cheat he has been using for testing on his respective site. By starting R6 with "shelljump 88" after the executable it will unlock all the levels, Snicker did leave a warning that is may cause the game to run unstable. - Dropzone Sunday, April 11, 1999      New Rainbow Six Web Site - Merlin has opened a new Rainbow Six site at www.lesterm.com/merlin/, he is also covering the game "Alpha Centari", so anyone who also plays that addictive game head over and give him a visit. - Dropzone Realistic NATO Weapon Zoom Mod - Here is a mod to Nato 2.0 that Reynolds made. It makes it more realistic by letting the scoped weapons have zoom. Check it out. To install just open the file then go to nato options and hit save. To uninstall just reinstall nato 2.0.
