Ms. Lopez asked Ms. Gina Hickman to lead the Pledge of Allegiance.
Ms. Garcia and staff presented the Board the preliminary response and implementation steps of the PwC Managerial Analysis.
Ms. Sena thanked Ms. Garcia and her staff for all the work they did on the presentation. She then asked how is staff time spent on implementing the recommendations going to affect the day to day work the staff should be doing? Ms. Garcia answered that it depends on the complexity of the recommendation. Ms. Sena then asked if PwC presented figures of how much money will be needed to implement the recommendations? Ms. Garcia stated that it was about $4.1 million.
Mr. Ochoa stated he also noticed all the staff time that is needed. He stated that the District has to be careful with how much extra work the staff is given. He stated that the District will need to go to the community for funding on some of the non-recurring expenses. He mentioned he is very interested in getting a lot of the recommendations implemented but it needs to happen one step at a time. He stated he is confident that in 2 to 3 years Santa Fe Public Schools will become a banner District.
Mr. Tom Mills stated it is clear there is a lot of work ahead for the administration but it will make the organization user friendly. He stated that the advisory committee gave the Board time to review the document and then present a response and he asked that the Board allow the committee to do the same. He stated that there was great deal of problems out there for a long time but this is a chance to change the system to work smarter. He stated that it is not possible for children to succeed unless everyone works together.
Ms. Lopez congratulated Ms. Garcia and her staff for putting the comprehensive response together. She stated there is a lot of work cut out for everyone. She stated that everyone has to keep talking and working with each other. She then stated she is looking forward to the future.
Ms. Garcia thanked everyone for their commitment and support. She stated because Santa Fe Public Schools is in the Capital, it should be the flagship District.
Ms. Sena made a motion to adjourn. Mr. Ochoa seconded the motion. All members were in favor. Meeting adjourned at 6:58 PM.
