INTERZONE TRANSFERS

What is an interzone transfer? An interzone transfer provides the authority to attend a public school other than the student's home residence-zoned school.
How do I apply for an interzone transfer? Applications for an interzone transfer may be obtained from any public school or the Administration Office, 610 Alta Vista.
Who approves interzone transfers? District personnel review and (dis)approve applications based on space availability; Board Criteria; and Principal recommendations.
What is the interzone schedule? Applications may be submitted to the schools February 1 -May 1. The district will evaluate applications for the subsequent school year at the end of May with parents notified by the second week in June. Parents receiving disapproved interzone requests may appeal the decision in August. The District will respond to appeal after the tenth day of the school year when actual enrollment is known.
How are applications evaluated? If the estimated number of students is below the maximum state regulations, the following Board approved criteria is used.
- Students of Santa Fe Public School employees were they are employed or nearest to their place of place of employment.
- Program placement needs of students.
- Siblings of students already in requested school.
- Child care needs with attention to economic constraints.
- Parent/Family personal preference.
