The Blue Springs School District, located on the eastern edge of the Kansas City metro area in Jackson County, covers a total of 56 square miles and includes students from the communities of Blue Springs, Grain Valley, Independence, Lake Tapawingo and Lee's Summit.  Annual enrollment is approximately 12,405 (a 45% increase since 1980).  We are one of the fastest growing areas in the state, increasing our student body by 300 each year.

Our mostly middle to upper-middle class community enjoys a stable economy.  Of our 46,000 residents, 30% commute to the Kansas City metro area to work each day.

Our close proximity to Kansas City allows residents easy access to a variety of social, cultural and educational opportunities.  For example, the Blue River Community College serves over 2,100 students at its local campus.  There is also convenient access to over 54 colleges, universities, and technical schools in the metro area.

* In the fall of 1999, high schools will include grades 10 through 12 with a separate freshman center.  We will also open a twelfth elementary school, Sunny Pointe.  The current Georgeff-Baker Middle School will become the Freshman Center and a new middle school, Delta Woods, will open.
