Board of Education

1998-99

 

Charles McGraw is serving his fifteenth year as superintendent.  He also held the positions of deputy superintendent, personnel director, and principal in the Blue Springs Schools.  He is active in a number of civic and professional organizations and is a former member of the board of regents of Central Missouri State University.  Under his leadership, the district has been responsive to exceptional population growth which has generated a variety of new buildings including a high school, three middle schools, and four elementary schools.

Kent Edmondson is owner of Kwik Kopy Printing.  He has been chairman of the Blue Springs Chamber of Commerce, stays active with bar-be-cue competitions, as a DJ, and with his wife’s bridal shop, Brides, Belles, & Bows Boutique.  This is his second year on the board.

Dale Walkup and his wife own four area Grampa's Car Washes.  They also are the principal stockholders of Carlson Wagonlit Travel.  He formerly managed a Wal-Mart and a Sam's Wholesale Club.  He is serving his seventh year as a board member.

Reta Hatfield is secretary for the Blue Springs Chamber of Commerce.  In the past she has worked in various PTAs and booster clubs as well as the Citizens' Advisory Committee. She is currently serving her eighth year on the board and is the current president.

Paul Consiglio is owner/manager of Mister Steak Restaurant in Independence.  He is a member and past chairman of the Eastern Jackson County Private Industry Council and is active in a number of civic organizations.  Serving his seventh year on the board, he is vice president.

Barbara Landes is serving her third year on the board after thirty-seven years as an educator in the district.  She is an active board member of both the Blue Springs Chamber of Commerce and Coterie Theatre at Crown Center.  She currently holds the office of board treasurer.

Joyce Spears is a recently retired Blue Springs school teacher and is serving her third year on the board.  She is involved in a variety of organizations.  One of her special interests is monitoring and working with legislative issues which impact education.

Ronald Wilds is a Blue Springs chiropractor  serving his third year on the board and is treasurer.  As an active community volunteer, he has worked many years with the Special Olympics State Basketball Tournament.  He is involved in a variety of civic and community groups.

Jim Coen is a retired teacher who taught thirty-one years, twenty-seven of those years in the Fort Osage Schools.  He is serving his first year on the board.  Coen remains active in several areas of teachers’ organization work including lobbying in Jefferson City.
