A FISHERMAN'S PARADISE
When brothers Dave and Sandy Buchanan opened their two pool trout fishery in 1984 little did they realise then how the complex would expand into one of the busiest venues in Scotland
Newmill Trout fisheries near Lanark is a six pool fishery with its own hatchery , licensed cafe, smokehouse and deer farm.Newmill caters for all aspects of trout fishing with a wide range of fish from 1lb 8oz stockies to fish at 20lbs

The fishery itself encompasses almost a hundred acres of ground. The west and east ponds are surrounded in mature trees and are seen at their best on a sunny day ,when their mirror surfaces provide a reflective picture postcard scene. The 8acre pond has been surrounded with a planting of 25,000 trees and in time these trees will provide a wonderful scenic backdrop.
The other characteristic sound of Newmill is the roaring of Red Deer stags in season. The deer farm is a well known tourist attraction in the area ,with home grown venison always available.
Because the fishery is so well patronised the stocking policy is one of daily stocking ,and on Saturdays and Sundays when the ponds are particularly busy they are stocked two or three times a day.
Newmill lies almost equidistant between Glasgow and Edinburgh, three miles north of the town of Lanark on the A706
