Small but mighty, small business has always been a special breed. Every year, more and more Kansas Citians start a new business, hiring thousands of employees and generating unmatched economic energy. Nationwide, small business employs more than 57 percent of the private work force and generates more than 68 percent of the new job growth. Of the 66,000 businesses in the Kansas City area, 92.4 percent (61,000) are small businesses employing 100 or fewer people.
One of the wonderful things about small business is that each and every business is different with different entrepreneurial spirits driving it forward, with different versions on how to succeed, with different paths to individual success and with different needs. Small businesses often ask for information to start or grow their business. The Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce is a working resource to businesses throughout the metropolitan area.
