In support of the Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Network (EREN) the Miamisburg Environmental Management Project/Department of Energy encourages the participation of local schools and students to participate in some of the great upcoming contests and events.

EnergySmart Kids Contest

Enter Now! Deadline is October 16, 1999

The EnergySmart Kids Contest is a national essay contest sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy and Owens Corning to involve 4th-6th grade students in making their schools and homes more energy efficient. Ten contest winners will earn the opportunity to be appointed EnergySmart Ambassadors and participate in the nation's inaugural EnergySmart Student Summit in Washington, D.C. in November.

Saving Energy Starts with Me

With less than five percent of the world population, the United States is responsible for producing 20 percent of the global emissions that contribute to global warming. By participating in the EnergySmart Kids Contest, you can help encourage your fellow Americans to make their schools and homes more energy efficient. As a result, you can help Americans save the planet's natural resources and reduce the amount of greenhouse gas emissions.

Just write a 100-word-or-less essay on why "Saving Energy Starts with Me" for a chance to be appointed an EnergySmart National Ambassador and earn the opportunity to:
