QUESTIONWhat is ISDN?
ANSWERISDN, which stands for Integrated Services Digital Network, is a system of digital phone connections that is being promoted by Telekom Malaysia. This system allows data to be transmitted using digital connectivity, as opposed to the analog connectivity of home telephone lines (called PSTN). ISDN lines consist of two channel, each of which can transmit data at 64kbps. Thus, data transmission for ISDN can be as high as 128Kbps, that makes ISDN very useful for Internet surfing and downloading.

QUESTIONWhat are the things I need to get ISDN Internet Access service?
ANSWERYou will need the following:
1. ISDN telephone line connection from Telekom.
2. ISDN TA/Modem (available through Navatech)
3. ISDN Internet Access account (available through Nasionet and authorised agents)

QUESTIONWhere can I get ISDN connection?
ANSWERISDN is limited to certain areas, although most in Malaysia (especially the Klang Valley) can apply for ISDN. An ISDN line can be installed in your home or office.

QUESTIONWho installs the ISDN line?
ANSWERCurrently, only Telekom Malaysia can install ISDN. The procedure is that your must apply to get an ISDN line into your house or office, Telekom Malaysia will assign you an ISDN telephone number.

QUESTIONCan I still get an ISDN line if my area or building supports Maxis or Time Telecom network?
ANSWERThis depends on your location. We can find out for you if you give us your current telephone number and address.

QUESTIONDo I need to have a physical line installed in my house or office for ISDN?
ANSWERYes. You need to have a telephone contractor lay a physical line into your house or office, NavaTech can assist you in this, by introducing contractor.

QUESTIONCan I use my analog telephone with the ISDN line?
ANSWERCertain modems (like the ZyXel which Navatech is promoting) allows you to both surf the internet and use your analog phone at same time. This is because ISDN has 2 channels for carrying data. Hence, one can be used to connect to the Internet, while the other can be used to make and receive phone calls.

QUESTIONWhat are the payment requirements for ISDN to Telekom?
ANSWERJust like your analog phone line, you must pay for the following features for having an ISDN line: One time installation charge, one time deposit, monthly rental charges, and dial up charges.

NOTE: The NavaTech promotion of the Nasionet Internet Access and the ZyXel modem will entitle you to have the ISDN installation fee and deposit waived. However, you will still need to pay a contractor to lay the line in your home or office. (NavaTech can recommend a contractor)

QUESTIONWill I dial up to 1511 or 1515?
ANSWERNo. These two numbers are for analog service only provided by TMnet and Jaring. You will dial a 7 or 8 digit number to use the Internet gateway of Nasionet (NOT Jaring or TMnet).

QUESTIONWhat does the RM680 Nasionet ISDN Personal cover? Do I still have to pay the telco charge to Telekom?
ANSWERThe Nasionet ISDN Personal Internet Access gives you unlimited Internet Access at 64kbps for one year and one e-mail account (Other Service providers, charge as per usage i.e. 4sens per minate or RM2.40 per hour for Internet access). An example, if you use 50 hours a month of Internet Access, you would be paying to other Service providers RM120.00 per month, that is RM1440.00 per year as against paying RM680.00 per year to Nasionet thus saving RM760.00. Don't forget, with Nasionet you are paying only RM56.66 per month for unlimited Internet Access.

Irrespective of whichever Service provider you use, the standard Telco charge is 3 sens per minute.

QUESTIONDo you have Internet access at 128kbps?
ANSWERYes. It costs RM980 per year for unlimited access.

QUESTIONCan I still keep my e-mail account at TMNet or Jaring?
ANSWERYes, you can. You will be given another e-mail account, this time with Nasionet. So, even with the Nasionet ISDN Personal Internet access, you can continue to use any of your existing e-mail accounts (including Hotmail).

QUESTIONWhat other charges are there for the Nasionet ISDN Personal and ZyXel TA/modem promotion?
ANSWERif you don't already have an ISDN line installed in your house or office, you must pay a contractor to lay the line - we will assist you in this. These other charges are optional:

on-site installation of ISDN Internet Access: RM 75

on-site installation of ZyXel ISDN TA & Internet Access: RM250

QUESTIONWhat is the procedure for ordering Nasionet ISDN Personal Internet Access alone?
ANSWERSimply give us a call, and we'll send the installation kit to you within one working day.

QUESTIONWhat is the procedure for ordering the nasionet Internet kit, a modem, and having an ISDN line installed?
ANSWER1. Confirm your order by filling in the order form attached, and fax it to the number shown, together with a copy of your IC. (For business use, a copy of ROC is required)

2. NavaTech will apply for the installation of the ISDN line to Telekom on our behalf.

3. Within 10 working days, Telekom Malaysia will contact us/you to confirm the ISDN service availability and request you to proceed to pay for the monthly rental at the nearest kedai Telekom. When you have done this, you must request a wiring contractor to lay the physical line to your house/office (if you do not know a contractor, Navatech can recommend one). You will liase directly with the contractor to arrange lying of the cable.

4. Once the cable has been installed, inform us and Navatech will inform Telekom who will arrange for a date to activate and commission your ISDN line.

5. NavaTech will send your ISDN Personal kit, together with the modem to you. Should you require a technician to install the items at your home / office we can do it at the above mention cost.
