MISSION

To assist stranded travelers, reuniting them with their families and other resources. To provide information and referral services at Ontario International Airport.

Travelers Aid is committed to assisting stranded individuals and families who find themselves in the Inland Empire separated from their families and resources. The agency develops a relationship with the stranded individual and their families with the objective of reuniting them and encouraging them to start taking the steps necessary to maintain economic stability

HISTORY

Founded in 1984 as a program of Travelers Aid Society of Los Angeles, Travelers Aid of the Inland Empire is the leading agency in Ontario providing assistance to stranded individuals and families. In 1992, Travelers Aid became an independent non-profit agency and is primarily funded by City of Los Angeles Department of Airports, the City of Ontario, the Friends of Ontario International Airport, the J.L. White Foundation, the Association of Airport Employees, and Inland Container Foundation.

PROGRAMS

To meet the goal of serving those in need, Travelers Aid provides comprehensive case management services to all of its clients. The philosophy of Travelers Aid is to work with people in crisis by developing a case plan aimed at reuniting them with their families and resources. People are fully evaluated to determine specific needs and problems. A case aid then works with the individual and follows through until those needs are met. Staff and volunteers from the community implement the following programs:

CRISIS INTERVENTION AND REFERRAL SERVICES are available for individuals and families who are stranded in the Inland Empire. Travelers Aid meets the needs of individuals and families with acute transition problems.

TRAVEL ASSISTANCE is provided for families and individuals who are stranded in the Ontario, San Bernardino or Riverside area and have an appropriate support system at their destination.

EMERGENCY SERVICES are available on those occasions where the need is great. Travelers Aid provides food, transportation and temporary lodging.

INFORMATION AND REFERRAL SERVICES are provided to the traveling public at Ontario International Airport.

ALL SERVICES ARE PROVIDED BY COMMUNITY VOLUNTEERS.
