Welcome to the Laredo Independent School District Board of Trustees Web page !
The Board of Trustees, composed of seven School District residents, is the LISD's policy-making body. Among the Board's major duties are adopting goals and objectives for the District, reviewing and acting on policies, adopting an annual budget and setting the tax rate, electing school personnel as recommended by the superintendent, and reporting to the public on the District's progress.
Regular meetings of the Board of Trustees are held at 6:30 PM on the first Thursday after the 10th of every month. Other meetings and workshop sessions may be scheduled when necessary. The Board meets in the Board Room by the LISD Administration Building, located at 1620 Houston St. All meetings of the Board are open to the public. The Board may go into executive session at any time during a meeting to consider matters regarding personnel, real estate, security, school children, negotiated contracts for prospective gifts or donations, consultation, and/or legal issues, and for receiving information, all as may be permitted under the Open Meetings Act.
Citizens who wish to present any matter of concern to the Board during a meeting must make a request in writing or by telephone to the .............. Each citizen's presentation is limited in a length to five minutes.
