ABA
to auction transmitter licences for open
narrowcasting services in NSW
Tomorrow,
24 November 1999, the Australian Broadcasting
Authority will conduct auction-style licence
allocation exercises for eighteen transmitter
licences to provide open narrowcasting services
in Canberra, Newcastle, Wollongong and other
regional centres in south east New South Wales.
The
auctions will be held at the Australian
Broadcasting Authority, Function Room, Level 16,
201 Sussex Street, Sydney. Registration of
applicants and agents will commence at 8.30am,
with the first auction expected to commence at
10.00am.
Members
of the public are welcome to attend, however,
only registered applicants may bid for the
available licences.
By
the advertised deadline of Friday 29 October
1999, the ABA had received 61 applications for
the licences.
The
identity of applicants for the licence is
confidential, with only the identity of the
highest bidder being announced at the completion
of the auctions. There is a reserve price of
$4,000 for each licence.
