The Credit Valley Rehabilitation Centre is here to help those on the road to recovery.
Providing therapy for musculoskeletal, multiple trauma and catastrophic injuries, the
Rehabilitation Centre specializes in individualized, immediate access to professionals in
a range of professional disciplines, specifically for Motor Vehicle Accident patients and
for those with Insurance Coverage.

Our Programmes
Provide:
- Immediate access to appropriate multidisciplinary services.
- Individualized assessment by registered professionals specializing in soft tissue,
trauma and complex, and head injury management.
- Emphasis on early intervention and progression of treatment to promote early return to
the client's pre-injury activity level (clients will enter the appropriate programme
matching their state of recovery).
- Frequent verbal and written communication and final report discharge.
- Family involvement to include education, case conference, discharge planning and
follow-up.

Admission Process
The screening process initiated by a verbal or written referral consists of:
- A general review of the client's status.
- Clarification of rehabilitation needs.
- Summary of assessment and treatment needs.
The Screening Defines:
- The appropriateness of the Rehabilitation Programme.
- The costs of recommended assessment or treatment plan.
Musculoskeletal - Soft Tissue Injury Programme
The Programme consists of physical therapy intervention with consultation from other
disciplines as required.
PHASE I:
- Intervention and treatment incorporates education and pain relieving modalities
(Electrical therapies, Ultrasound, Hydrotherapy, hot and cold therapies).
- Initiation of early individualized functional movement exercises and mobilizations to
improve range of motion and flexibility.
PHASE II:
- Progression of individualized active exercise programme to include strengthening in
functional movements and endurance training.
- Focus on restoring client's physical ability to match the pre-injury activity level.
Multiple Trauma - Complex Injury Programme
The Programme is an extension of the physical therapy intervention programme (as
outlined above) plus the following activities as required.
- Pain management intervention may include:
- education, biofeedback training, hypnosis,
- structured group activities and behavioural strategies.
- Functional capacity and ergonomic evaluations at home or at job site.
- Treatment and prevention of repetitive strain injury.
Catastrophic - Acquired Brain Injury Programme
The Programme provides a fully comprehensive multidisciplinary focus with the
following services as required.
- Physical assessment of neuromuscular status with treatment focusing on maximizing the
client's mobility and functional level.
- Assessment of a client's cognitive abilities with treatment directed at re-establishing
pre-trauma levels of functioning.
- Functional capacity evaluation, work conditioning, job or home site analysis and
management of the return to work process.
- Short term psychotherapy to reduce anxiety and disability related to trauma.
- Assessment, treatment and management of clients with deficits in speech, language or
hearing in order to maximize communicative functioning.
- Individual, marital and family counselling, and discharge planning to promote
psychosocial adjustment and coping skills.
