Dr. Paul J. Rosch is President of The American Institute of Stress, and Honorary Vice President of the International Stress Management Association. He completed his internship and residency training at Johns Hopkins Hospital, and subsequently at The Walter Reed Army Hospital and Institute of Research, where he was Director of the Endocrine Section in The Department of Metabolism. He had a Fellowship at the Institute of Experimental Surgery at The University of Montreal under the supervision of Dr. Hans Selye, the founder of the stress concept, and has co-authored works with him, as well as Dr. Flanders Dunbar who introduced the term "psychosomatic" into American medicine. He is Clinical Professor of Medicine and Psychiatry at New York Medical College and has served as Expert Consultant on Stress to the United States Centers for Disease Control, Adjunct Clinical Professor of Medicine in Psychiatry at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, President of the New York State Society of Internal Medicine, Westchester Diabetes Association, and Yonkers Academy of Medicine, Chairman of the International Foundation for Biopsychosocial Development and Human Health, and has been the recipient of many awards.
Dr. Rosch is Editor of Stress Medicine, published by John Wiley & Sons in the United Kingdom, is on the Editorial Board of The International Journal of Stress Management, American Journal of Health Promotion, Comprehensive Health, International Journal of Psychosomatics, Cardiovascular Reviews and Reports, and serves on the Board of Directors of a variety of health care organizations.
Dr. Rosch authors the "Wellsprings of Health" section of Creative Living, and has written extensively over the past 45 years on the role of stress in health and illness, particularly with respect to coronary heart disease, cancer, and job stress. His Editorials and comments have appeared in major medical journals, such as Journal of the American Medical Association, New England Journal of Medicine, Annals of Internal Medicine, and The Lancet. He has been interviewed and quoted widely in the media, including Time Magazine, Newsweek, Fortune, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Washington Post, London Times, and national and international television including 60 Minutes, Good Morning America, The Today Show, NBC, CBS, CNN, CBC and BBC.
