QUALIFYING STANDARDS

1998-99 Ontario Long Course Championship and SWAD standards. Submit Long Course times only. A 3% conversion is allowed as long as the converted time is equal to or faster than the Long Course standard. For SWAD conversions, please see the bottom of the qualifying standard sheet.

QUALIFYING PERIOD

Post July 1, 1998

ELIGIBILITY

Open to all competitive Swim Ontario and FINA registered swimmers.

Age categories are:

12 & Under, 13 & 14, 15 & 16 (able-bodied)

Open (SWAD)

(All SWAD will swim in prelims in the 15-16 able-bodied events.)

SESSION TIMES

WARM-UPS START

Thursday Heats (13 & Up) 12:00 - 12:50 p.m. 1:00 p.m.

Thursday Relay Heats (13 & Up) 5:00 - 5:50 p.m. 6:00 p.m.

Friday, Saturday & Sunday

Heats for 15 & 16, 13 & 14 7:30 - 8:20 a.m. 8:30 a.m.

Friday, Saturday & Sunday

Heats for 12 & Under 1:00 - 1:50 p.m. 2:00 p.m.

Friday, Saturday & Sunday

Finals for 15 & 16, 13 & 14,

12 & Under 5:00 - 5:50 p.m. 6:00 p.m.

All SWAD events are time finals during prelim sessions

Meet Management reserves the right to change start times for finals.

Please note: DO NOT REDUCE ENTRY GRIDS IN SIZE.

It is the responsibility of the sender to ensure that all entries are clear and legible (use black ink for fax purposes). The Club would prefer original copies by courier rather than faxed copies.

FAXed Entries: Cheque must be received within 4 business days of the date on the FAX.

ENTRY LIMITATION

All swimmers must meet respective qualifying standards and are limited to a maximum of 6 (six) individual events, plus relays.

AGE

As of July 8, 1999.

RELAY ENTRIES

Clubs may enter any number of relay teams per event. Relay team members shall be properly entered in at least one individual event except that, when a club enters only one team in a relay, three members of the team must be properly entered in an individual event. Only swimmers whose names appear on the Meet Entry Forms shall compete in relay events, but it is not necessary to specify relay team swimmer assignments on the Entry Forms. Swimmers who will only be in relays shall be listed on the Meet Entry Forms with "relays only" noted opposite their names.

RELAY CARDS

Team officers (coach, team manager) shall name the actual team members (also giving the full name of each competitor, swimmer ID# and his/her age) in the order they will swim, on the relay card.

See "Failed Swim" Memo (included in this meet package) which applies to all participants, including SWAD.

Thursday, July 8, 1999, 10:30 a.m., Etobicoke Olympium.

COACHES' MEETING

Will be held Thursday, July 8, at 11:30 a.m. in the officials' room, second level, and Friday, July 9, 7:30 a.m., on the pool deck, deep end.

PROGRAM

  1. The 800/1500 Free events will be swum as a Time Final for all age groups on the day specified in the Order of Events. They will be swum fastest to slowest.
  2. All SWAD events will be swum as Time Finals in the prelims.
  3. COACHES, PLEASE NOTE: All SWAD must be listed on the special SWAD grids for classification purposes. The only events open to SWAD are those listed on their grids.

  4. There will be consolation finals and finals in individual events, unless an event is designated as a Time Final. Consolation swims will precede finals.
  5. In addition to the 800/1500, the following events will be swum as Time Finals in the Prelims for the 12 & Unders: 400 I.M., 400 Free, 4 x 50 M.R. and 4 x 50 F.R.
  6. Meet Management will assign breaks when necessary.
  7. Medals will be presented each day during finals. SWAD awards will be presented during prelims each day.
  8. There will be no "Free Swims". Absolutely no deck entries.
  9. Should the number of entries exceed 3500, some sessions may be run double ended. Any changes will be discussed at the coaches’ meetings.
