MEMO

TO: All Clubs Attending Provincial Championships

FROM: Swim Ontario

RE: Failed Swims

The following motion was passed by the Swim Ontario Management Committee at the July 13, 1998 Management Committee Meeting. The motion was ratified by the Swim Ontario Board at the September 12, 1998 Board meeting.

"The Management Committee recommends to the Board of Directors – In order to control the practice of entering swimmers who are not qualified to swim an event in a provincial championship swim meet, Swim Ontario will institute a $50.00 fine for each "failed swim". The following administrative process will apply:

  1. Host club to be responsible for administering process.
  2. Upon being notified of a "failed swim", coach or club will immediately be required to pay the fine. Failure to pay the fine when requested will make the club ineligible for the balance of the meet and future meets.
  3. The club will have 30 days from notification date to provide proof of time to host club.
  4. All fines to be collected and retained by host club."
