1999 National GeoData Forum
Washington, D. C. June 7-9, 1999
Over 460 people participated in"Making Livable Communities a Reality," the National GeoData
Forum. Highlights included addresses by Secretary of the Interior Bruce Babbitt and other
important political and business leaders, group discussions on decision support systems, financial
and commercial aspects of the National Spatial Data Infrastructure, technology, research and
education, accessing data, geospatial data organizational issues, and community product
development. GIS applications addressing community issues were demonstrated on Capitol Hill
and the forum concluded with a hearing before the House Subcommittee on Government
Management, Information and Technology.
