We have assembled applications and utilities in the following
categories:
The links below will show you the README files for the
applications and files on the BeSpecific CD 6 and let you download the archives directly.
This archive is for applications that are compatible with BeOS R4 running on CPUs from
Intel's x86 processor family. We'll add an archive of binaries for the PPC processor
family in the future.
Note that the links below will download the files via http.
We will be adding links to download the files via ftp in the near future, as well as links
to author homepages, if any.
If you would like your software mirrored here, or would like
us to add a link to your page or replace an archive here with a link to your own download

About BeSpecific
CD 6 will give you an overview of the disc.
GNU Public
License describes conditions under which some of BeSpecific's software is distributed.
Shareware
Although you can freely copy the contents of the BeSpecific
CD (subject to possible restrictions), not all of the software is "free." Some
of it is "shareware," meaning that if you use it for more than some specific
length of time (indicating that you find it useful in some way), you must pay its author.
Shareware payments are often low, usually less than $50, but that doesn't mean the
software is low quality or that the authors don't deserve your money. Just as the GNU
concept encourages freedom and technical advancement for everyone's benefit, paying for
shareware you use is vital to encourage individual programmers to write yet more software.
Check each app's Info panel or README file for where to send your check.
Add-ons
contains a variety of add-ons and extentions to the Tracker, the BeIDE, and other things.
Command
Line and UNIX contains a large quantity of UNIX and X
software ported to the BeOS.
Drivers
is still a bit sparse at the moment, but will likely continue to grow.
3com-Etherlink-III is a driver for
the 3COM 509b card
 
APMdriver is an Alliance ProMotion AT24,
AT25/AT3D graphics driver
PinnacleDrv 1.01 is a driver for the Turtle
Beach Multisound Pinnacle and Fiji soundcards.
ext2fs 1.0.5 is a Linux Ext2 read-only
filesystem driver.
ntfs-rod-0302 is an NTFS read-only driver with
source code and binary.

Emulators
is also a bit sparse, but it too will grow.

contains several fun puzzle-type apps.
Atoms 0.9, where players compete
to fill squares with their "atoms."
BeInsane 1.0, a "relatively obscure"
puzzle game, popular on some TI calculators and Linux boxes
BeNibblix 1.0 a rewrite of the classic
"Nibbles" game.
BeSokoban 1.1, a clone of the common
"box-pushing game."
BeSolitaire 1.1.1 loads, runs, saves, and edits
solitaire games.
Hammurabi 1.2, where you are king of a small
middle eastern nation.
Quadro 0.1, a "connect four" game.

includes demo apps and graphic utilities.
ArtPaint 1.2.1 is a comprehensive
painting and image-processing tool.
CircleToy 1.0 is a programming example of
circle drawing.
FliPlayer 1.12 plays Fli movies.
Lyapunovia 0.10 displays a fractal called
Lyapunov Space.
Thumbnail 1.3.0 creates thumbnail icons for
image files and writes them as an attribute.
allPossibleImages 1.0 cycles through all
combinations of an 8x8 grid of small blue lights (LED's).
starchart-1.0.1 is a breathtaking 3D astronomy
program.

includes IRC, WWW, telnet, news, and ftp utilities.
BeCQ-990316 is source for a Be ICQ
communications client.
BeCQ-990316 is the binary of a Be ICQ

BeInformed 0.9.5 is a newsreader.
BePhoney 1.71 handles calls into a modem that
supports voice.
NetPenguin 1.2 is an FTP client.
Ntp 1.0 is a Network Time Protocol client.
TenukiChat 1.0d8 is a simple Japanese IRC
client that supports the ISO-2022-JP character set.

Lexicon 4b provides a GUI to the BeOS CD's
ASCII dictionary.
NorKey 2.0 is a Norwegian keyboard keymap for
Apple, BeBox, and Win95 keyboards.
Pe_Perl_ext is a set of extensions for the Pe
text editor.
SimpleSearch 2.0b searches text files for a
given string.
UK Keymap 0.5 is a correct keyboard keymap for
UK users.
Yate96 is "Yet Another Text Editor."
